Anna and Georgie had some red carpet competition from X Factor contestant Rebecca Ferguson, who maintained her vintage style in an unusual eggshell blue dress coat, which she teamed with a sparkly bag and silver heels.

Matt Cardle and One Direction, who, with Rebecca, made it through to the show's semi-final this weekend, looked dapper in their outfits as they posed for photographers on the red carpet.

Another famous X Factor face at the event was last year's winner Joe McElderry, who sings on the soundtrack for the film.

Asked recently how he got involved in the film and who invited him to sing single There's A Place For Us, McElderry said: ' I got approached by Fox to do it and asked if I would sing this song, and I was absolutely honoured and I was like, "Definitely". The next Emma Watson? Is it cold? Guests wait anxiously to get into the cinema to watch the film as they stand on the red carpet.

Henley and Keynes first joined the Narnia adventure when they were just seven and 12 respectively, but now their journeys come to an end as Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the last book in which they feature. In the film, they return to the mythical world of Narnia with their cousin Eustace, played by year-old Londoner Will Poulter. Good friends: Rebecca and Matt pose for photographers on the red carpet before going in to see the film. Over here, over here!

Photographers attempt to get a shot of favourite Rebecca as she poses on the red carpet. However, while Henley has been compared to Harry Potter star Watson, she says she's not sure how true the comparison is. I had an Asian platter for two the other day and I finished it all myself.

It was so yummy. Ben Barnes, who plays Prince Caspian, said he was disappointed to have missed the chance to meet the Queen because of his commitments he made to perform the stage version of Sebastian Faulks's novel Birdsong directed by Sir Trevor Nunn.

He said: 'We didn't know that it would be a royal premiere so I arranged to come to this and then nip back before anyone missed me. Director Apted said he hoped the Queen would enjoy the performance. He said: 'I'm only sitting two seats away from her so I hope she likes it. I think she will. It's a very emotional film and I think people like that. I'm sure she'll be kind to it anyway. After the screening, the cast and crew waited to meet the Queen and Prince Philip.

What an honour: Henley watches as a smiling Liam Neeson greets the Queen after the film. Smiles all round: Anna Popplewell and Will Poulter shake hands with the monarch, who wore a pretty blue dress. A smiling Neeson said afterwards: 'I'm told the Queen doesn't see many movies, nor her husband, but they're coming tonight and that's pretty special.

The Queen is patron of the charity, which supports film and TV employees and their families in times of hardship. It keeps the whole profile of the organisation in front. Wrapped up warm: Queen Elizabeth wore a long charcoal wrap over her royal blue embellished dress. The Royal Film this year is more than worthy of the occasion. After the momentary lapse in standard of Prince Caspian, this is a hugely welcome return to the very high quality established by The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. The art direction, special effects and action sequences are all excellent, with arguably the most convincing dragon and certainly the outstanding sea serpent in motion picture history.

Director Michael Apted has pulled the production together with the same panache that he showed on one of the best Brosnan Bond films — The World is Not Enough, in He strikes precisely the right balance between the moral content of the film — it is, more than any of the other Narnian books, a religious allegory — and the kind of action film that avoids preachiness and keeps the thrills and surprises coming at the speed demanded by the video-game generation.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was one of my favourite novels as a child, mainly because it gives us a broader view than hitherto of the Narnian world. Essentially, this is a seafaring adventure, with King Caspian Ben Barnes, more confident than he was in Prince Caspian trying to find the seven Lords banished by his evil Uncle Miraz.

To help and hinder him, he has Reepicheep the valiant but pompous mouse now voiced by Simon Pegg and, from our own world, the two younger Pevensie children from earlier in the series, Edmund Skandar Keynes and Lucy Georgie Henley, who has lost none of the acting ability she showed in the first Narnian film , plus their cousin Eustace Scrubb Will Poulter, whom you may remember as the talented young comedian from Son of Rambow.

Centre stage: While her older siblings only make cameo appearances, Lucy Georgie Henley stars in the third film. Ah, Eustace. The main subtext of the story — and the great joy of the film — lies in his redemption. The main theme here is the overcoming of greed for power, wealth and beauty.

Dawn Treader, which again features the voice of Liam Neeson as Aslan, looks to me certain to make more money than Prince Caspian. We can look forward with every confidence to the next in the series, The Silver Chair, which has the potential to be the most cinematic of the series and contains one of my favourite fictional characters, the perennially depressed Puddlegum the Marsh-wiggle.

This is a delight. I, for one, loved it. The views expressed in the contents above are those of our users and do not necessarily reflect the views of MailOnline. Latest Headlines U.
